2.1 ABOUT THE UNIVERSITYOF FINANCE & MARKETING
Established in 1976 as a central govement school to train southe govement officials in pricing valuation, the University of Finance&Marketing (UFM) has developed from a single disciplinary college specializing in marketing (called Semi State-Run Junior College of Marketing in 1994) into a mullti-disciplinary university (2004) with diversified and competitive training programs which are highly adaptable to the market economy of Vietnam.
· Operating directly under the Ministry of Finance, UFM has been assigned with missions to train human resources for the financial sector in particular and for society in general. The University offers vocational programs, 4-and 3-year undergraduate programs, and graduate programs at all educational systems: regular full-time, part-time, in-service training, specialized crash courses.
· Entering a new period (2005-2010), UFM is well aware of the economic, political and technological changes at both national and inteational levels. UFM thus understands the needs for an entirely new approach to university education. Therefore, its long term strategy clearly shows that the development goal of UFM should always be to improve comprehensive training quality; to strengthen and develop UFM as a key educational and training school for talented and highly qualified human resources in economics, business and foreign languages to meet the growing requirements of global economic integration of Vietnam; to enhance the research capacity to become a prestigious research center; and to promote the University’s status and image nationally, regionally and inteationally.
· The key to realize UFM’s goal lies in its traditional strength and the unity of all UFM staffs and students, heading towards the development of UFM. Both lecturers and administrators are given equal opportunities for their self-development.
